The term “neocon”-short for neoconservative- has entered into the podcast lexicon since the election. The term is used to describe the W. Bush era Republicans (and their modern counterparts), mostly to contrast them against the America First/MAGA Republicans of today. The term is now used pejoratively, and I absolutely fucking love it.
I’ll be the first to admit; neocon is a dog-whistle. What is it a dog-whistle for, you might ask? It means warmonger, full stop. Anyone who denies that is a serious neocon themselves, and should be treated with maximum suspicion. The W. Bush era Republicans and their supporters were quick to anoint themselves as neocons as they attempted to spread democracy across the Middle East.
However, things are different now. The Iraq War supporters absolutely hate being called neocons. This is doubly true given the catastrophic ending to our time in Afghanistan and the evidence that our leaders lied about Sadaam having WMD’s. It’s no wonder they want to revise history! The neocons are backpedaling harder than a cornerback on third-and-long.
There’s also a secondary meaning of the term; a representative who has been paid by Israel and/or the defense industry. Needless to say, the neocons hate when you bring up AIPAC funding, they might even call you antisemitic for doing so. Remember, Israel has a right to defend itself is a neocon dog-whistle for let’s enter another twenty-year war so that Lockheed Martin’s CEO can have a fatter bonus.
Couple that with the deep pockets of the defense industry’s campaign financing, and it’s easy to see why there are so many bloodthirsty warmongers in Congress right now. The widespread condemnation of Trump’s limited and targeted strike to Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities-followed by an immediate withdrawal-is proof that The Swamp is crawling with filthy, disgusting neocons.
With all that said, I’m glad that neocon is widely seen as a negative term now. The warmongers (most of whom never served, go figure) should absolutely be mocked and ridiculed for their batshit stupid takes and hypocritical ideology. Neocons deserve to have their piss-poor track record shoved into their faces and to get annihilated at the ballot box. They deserve to be replaced by politicians who’ll actually put our needs first. Let’s remove the stigma around openly questioning the patriotism and loyalties of neocons. After all, who’s interest are they truly serving?
The Trailblazers
Tucker Carlson has been a lightning rod of attention to this phenomenon. Recently, he had Ted Cruz on his show and the former Fox star held the snowbird Texan accountable for the Israeli influence on Congress. Carlson has also been quite liberal (heehee, see what I did there?) about calling out neocons for their constant saber-rattling on his podcast. The world could use a few more Tucker Carlson’s…
Candace Owens is another example of prominent Republican speakers calling out the constant cries of carnage. She had an episode with Andrew Tate after the Eastern Bloc entrepreneur visited Florida. She savagely used the term neocon as if it were a comma. It was honestly like witnessing a Republican-on-Republican crime!
Of course, I’d be doing a major disservice to the Porcupine Cause if I didn’t mention the LeBron James of Libertarians; Dave Fucking Smith. He’s known for frequently weaponizing the term. A recent example of this was when Mr. Smith absolutely fucking cooked Douglas Murray on the Joe Rogan podcast.
“Alright Dan, get out of your goddamn echo chamber and list someone who uses the term that isn’t a right-winger or Libertarian” Challenge accepted, Karen. Lex Fridman is a popular podcaster who interviews those left, right, and apolitical. On his politically charged episodes, Lex makes his disdain clear for those who conjure up flimsy reasons to pad Raytheon’s pockets go to war, as he is a staunch peace advocate. One recent example of this was an episode where he hosted a debate on War in Iran. Spoiler alert; the neocons don’t like being called neocons.
TDS
And now, we’ll turn our focus to the Liberals. A common term thrown around is Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS for short. It’s most commonly used to oppose anything that Donald Trump does, solely because it’s Trump doing it. Donald Trump could throw a used napkin into a trash can and liberals with TDS would find a reason to get upset at it.
“Dan how is that relevant?” Simple really; Liberals dislike the recent Iranian airstrike because they claim it wasn’t effective, solely because of their TDS. In a way, they sound just like the neocons on The Hill right now, who are mad that Trump isn’t launching a full-scale invasion. Its as if the liberals are too fucking stupid and infected with TDS to realize that they’re agreeing with the neocons. The fog of political war can blind even the most experienced political operators, and that’s one more reason Gavin Newsom will not be our next President.
The neocons, they’re hiding all of the money in some secret neocon cave…
